How does ROSUVAS work?

ROSUVAS is used for the treatment of excess levels of cholesterol in the body.  Rosuvastatin is a type of lipid lowering drug. It works by inhibiting the production of mevalonic acid from enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. The production of mevalonic acid is one of the rate limiting steps in the synthesis/formation of cholesterol and inhibition of this step in the liver selectively increases the uptake and metabolism of LDL cholesterol into the liver cells and decreases the uptake into non-liver cells.
