How should i take the medicine:

Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water as directed by the physician. Do not take this medicine in small or larger amounts than recommended.

 

How this medicine works:

Metoprolol lowers the blood pressure by acting on the muscles of the heart to reduce the heart rate and increase the blood circulation and Amlodipine works by blocking the calcium receptors within the blood vessels causing them to dilate and reducing the blood pressure

Drug interactions:

  • Digoxin - Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken together combination it may increase the levels of digoxin in blood and may cause side effects like slow pulse, loss of appetite, nausea, visual changes, or irregular heartbeats. Appropriate dose adjustments or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Lithium - Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may increase the blood levels of lithium and may cause side effects like dizziness, confusion, vomiting, muscle weakness, blurred vision, excessive thirst, increased urination, etc. It is recommended to inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Benazepril - Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may decrease the levels of potassium in blood and cause hyperkalemia that may lead to severe side effects like kidney failure, muscle paralysis, irregular heart rhythm, etc. If you experience any signs and symptoms like muscle pain, irregular heartbeat, etc. then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Aspirin - Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may decrease the effects of this medicine and affect kidney function. If you experience any signs and symptoms like fluid retention, muscle cramps, increased or decreased urination, sudden weight gain or weight loss, swelling, shortness of breath, tiredness, then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Ibuprofen - Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may decrease the effects of this medicine and affect kidney function. If you experience any signs and symptoms like fluid retention, muscle cramps, increased or decreased urination, sudden weight gain or weight loss, swelling, shortness of breath, tiredness, then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Ramipril - Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may decrease the levels of potassium in blood and cause hyperkalemia that may lead to severe side effects like kidney failure, muscle paralysis, irregular heart rhythm, etc. If you experience any signs and symptoms like muscle pain, irregular heartbeat, etc. then inform to the doctor on priority. Alcohol interactions:

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while receiving/taking this medicine as it may cause interactions and lead to serious adverse effects and may worsen the health condition.

 

Food interactions:

It is recommended to avoid foods, supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium.

  1. You may experience chest pain that may worsen when you first start taking the medicine or your dose is increased. Contact your doctor in this case.
  2. This drug may cause a lowering of blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances, or even kidney failure. Contact your doctor if you experience vomiting, diarrhea, or unusual sweating.
  3. Inform your doctor if you have or had kidney, liver, or heart disease, lupus, electrolyte imbalance, low blood pressure, gout, glaucoma, to make sure this medicine is safe for use.
  4. This medicine is contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to this medicine combination of active ingredients present along with it.
  5. Take this medicine as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost the for your next dose skip the dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose. 
  6. Please report to the medical emergency if you or the patient experiences the symptoms of overdose like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, loss of consciousness etc.
  7. Store the medicine in a cool and dry place. Keep the medicine away from the reach of the children
