How should I take the medicine?

Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water as directed by the physician. Do not take this medicine in small or larger amounts than recommended.

How this medicine works:

This medicine helps in recovering from the deficiency of vitamin D also allows in reabsorbing calcium and phosphates for the maintenance of overall good health.

Drug interactions:

• Digoxin-Moderate  

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, there may be a chance of elevation of levels of calcium in the body and it may cause digoxin toxicity and cardiac problems. If you experience any unusual signs and symptoms like headache, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, weakness, fatigue, ringing in the ears, constipation, loss of appetite, etc inform your doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or suitable alternatives may be considered based on your condition.

• Fosphenytoin-Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, fosphenytoin may decrease the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation. Appropriate dose adjustments or suitable alternatives may be considered based on your condition.

• Isoniazid-Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, isoniazid may decrease the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation. Appropriate dose adjustments or suitable alternatives may be considered based on your condition.

• Oxcarbazepine-Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, oxcarbazepine may decrease the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation. Appropriate dose adjustments or suitable alternatives may be considered based on your condition.

Alcohol interactions:

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking this medicine as it may cause interactions and lead to serious adverse effects and may worsen the health condition.

1. This medicine may be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the best time to take this medicine.
2. If this medicine is given to an arrhythmic patient then it is recommended to monitor closely his functioning of the heart and electrolytes balance. 
3. This medicine should be given to patients with kidney dysfunction with extreme caution due to the increased risk of adverse effects that may worsen the condition of the patient. Close monitoring of kidney function is needed.
4. This medicine is not recommended to use if the patient is known to have malabsorption syndrome.
5. This medicine is not recommended to use in children unless it is absolutely necessary. Your doctor will prescribe the best based on your clinical condition.

Missed dose instructions:

Take this medicine as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost the for your next dose skip the dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.
