How should i take the medicine:

Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water as directed by the physician. Do not take this medicine in small or larger amounts than recommended.

 

How this medicine works:

This medicine works by reducing the binding of glutamate in the brain and control dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Pregnancy warning: Category B

Drug interactions:

  • Baclofen -Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, it may result in severe adverse reactions like tremors, nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, hyperthermia, seizures, rigidity, mental status changes like extreme agitation, delirium, coma, etc. It is important to inform your doctor about the use of these medications before taking this medicine.


  • Ketamine-Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, it may result in an increase in the serum levels of this medicine and may cause severe side effects. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual signs and symptoms like serotonin syndrome (shivering, diarrhea, muscle rigidity, seizures ), dizziness, vomiting, headache, lightheadedness, etc. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


  • Hydrochlorthiazide - Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, it may decrease the effectiveness of this medicine and may cause side effects. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual signs and symptoms. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


  • Warfarin - Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken together, it may decrease the effectiveness of this medicine and may cause side effects. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual signs and symptoms. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


Alcohol interactions:

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking this medicine as it may cause interactions and lead to serious adverse effects and may worsen the health condition.

Expert Advice:

  1. This medicine can be taken with or without food. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Take it as a whole.
  2. Care must be taken in individuals with conditions like Diabetes, Bleeding disorders, Bone and joint diseases like osteoporosis, arthritis, etc.
  3. Avoid driving or use of heavy machinery as the use of this medicine may cause drowsiness, loss of concentration, and dizziness.
  4. Inform any side effects experienced immediately to the doctor.


Missed dose instructions:

Take this medicine as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose skip the dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.
