The main chemical compound present in Brahmi is Bacosides. It is a compound which is believed to hone or sharpen the cognitive functions by enhancing the transmission of nerve impulse. Brahmi is considered best for the brain disorder known as Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Bacosides are isolated from Brahmi for other purposes. The other chemical responsible for the brain function or brain regenerative effect is mannitol, betulinic acid and stigmasterol, fatty acids, pectic acid, ascorbic acid, thancunic acid, brahmic acid, and glycosides.
