  • Hypersensitivity/Known Allergy to Folic acid or any ingredients present along with it. 


How should i take the medicine:

Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water as directed by the physician. Do not take this medicine in small or larger amounts than recommended.


How this medicine works:

Folic acid is an essential vitamin that plays role in the synthesis of essential blood cells like platelets, WBC and production of coenzymes in various metabolic processes like purine and pyrimidine synthesis.

  • Aspirin-Minor

Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


  • Carbamazepine-Minor

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may reduce the effectiveness of carbamazepine. If you experience any signs and symptoms like anemia, weakness, fatigue, liver damage, stomach pain, etc then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


  • Chlorothiazide-Minor

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may reduce the effectiveness of folic acid by increasing the urinary excretion. If you experience any signs and symptoms like anemia, weakness, fatigue, liver damage, stomach pain, etc then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


  •  Methotrexate – Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may reduce the effectiveness of methotrexate. If you experience any signs and symptoms like anemia, weakness, fatigue, liver damage, stomach pain, etc then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


  • Furosemide- Minor

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may reduce the effectiveness of folic acid by increasing the urinary excretion. If you experience any signs and symptoms like anemia, weakness, fatigue, liver damage, stomach pain, etc then inform to the doctor on priority.   • Hydrochlorothiazide- Minor

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, it may reduce the effectiveness of folic acid by increasing the urinary excretion. If you experience any signs and symptoms like anemia, weakness, fatigue, liver damage, stomach pain, etc then inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


Alcohol interactions:

Consumption of alcohol along with this medicine is not recommended as it may cause severe liver damage and liver failure.

  3. Folic acid supplement may not be recommended to patients having vitamin B12 deficiency or megaloblastic anemia.

Missed dose instructions:

Take this medicine as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose skip the dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.
