What is this used for:

When to not take this medicine:

 

  • Hypersensitivity or allergy towards Nicorandil
  • Patients with shock, severe hypotension, or left ventricular dysfunction with low filling pressure or cardiac decompensation
  • Hypovolaemia
  • Acute pulmonary oedema

 

How should i take the medicine:

 

Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water as directed by the physician. Do not take this medicine in small or larger amounts than recommended.

  • Sildenafil-Major

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken or used together it may lead to a serious drop in blood pressure. Inform to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Acetylsalicylic acid-Moderate 

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken or used together  there is an increased risk for severe complications such as gastrointestinal ulceration, perforation and hemorrhage. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Acetazolamide-Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken or used together Acetazolamide may increase the excretion rate of Nicorandil which could result in a lower serum level and potentially a reduction in efficacy. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Acyclovir-Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken or used together Acyclovir may decrease the excretion rate of Nicorandil which could result in a higher serum level. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

  • Alprazolam-Minor 

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicine. When these medicines are taken or used together Alprazolam may decrease the excretion rate of Nicorandil which could result in a higher serum level. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

 

Alcohol interactions:

 

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while receiving/taking this medicine as it may cause interactions and lead to serious adverse effects and may worsen the health condition.

  1. This medicine to be taken with food or immediately after food. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. Swallow it whole.
  2. This medicine is to be taken at the same time of the day. Follow the missed dose instructions in case if you miss a dose.
  3. Seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the side effects like Dizziness, Light-headedness, fainting, etc.
  4. A sudden stoppage of this medicine may cause irregular heartbeat or blood pressure.

Missed dose instructions:
