What is this used for

  • Treatment of hypertension

 

When to not take this medicine:

 

  • Hypersensitivity or allergy towards Prazosin
  • In patients with congestive cardiac failure
  • In patients with a history of micturition syncope.

 

How should i take the medicine:

 

Take this medicine with an adequate amount of water as directed by the physician. Do not take this medicine in small or larger amounts than recommended.

 

How this medicine works:

This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the blood vessels.

  • Dizziness (Common)
  • Fainting (Common)
  • Loss of bladder control (Less common)
  • Pounding heartbeat (Less common)
  • Swelling of the feet or lower legs (Less common)
  • Chest pain (Rare)
  • Trouble breathing (Rare)

Drug interactions:

 

Aspirin-Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken together it may decrease the effects of prazosin. Inform the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.


Alcohol interactions:

 

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while receiving/taking this medicine as it may cause interactions and lead to serious adverse effects and may worsen the health condition.

  1. These tablets can be taken, with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. Swallow it whole.
  2. Care must be taken when this medicine combination is used in elderly patients.

  4. Medicines, salt substitutes or supplements that may contain potassium must be avoided for individuals receiving/consuming this medicine

Missed dose instructions:

 

Take this medicine as soon as you remember. However if it is almost the for your next dose skip the dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Seek emergency treatment or contact your physician in case if you experience any unusual signs and symptoms during the treatment with this medicine.
