What is this used for:

• Nasal Congestion

When to not take this medicine:

• Allergic to this medicine or ingredients present along with it
• Individuals with a history of trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy

How should I take the medicine:

This medicine is to be sprayed into the nasal cavity with the applicator provided . It is recommended to not touch the nasal walls with the tip of the applicator while using the spray. Follow the instructions exactly as advised by your doctor. Keep the lid of the applicator closed when not in use.

How this medicine works:

This medicine acts on the receptors of nasal mucosa to reduce blood flow and nasal congestion by constricting the nasal smooth muscle

• Transient visual impairment (rare)
• Cardiac Disorders (rare)
• Heart rate irregular (rare)
• Respiratory disorders (rare)
• Nasal dryness or discomfort (Common)

Pregnancy warning: Category C

Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Lactation warning: 

The use of this medicine is not recommended for lactating and breastfeeding mothers unless necessary. Inform your doctor about the use of this medicine. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Renal dose adjustments:

Care must be taken for individuals with kidney disease while taking this medicine. Please discuss appropriate dose adjustments with your doctor. Your doctor may also prescribe a suitable alternative on the basis of creatinine clearance values.

Hepatic dose adjustments:

Care must be taken for individuals with liver disease while taking this medicine. Please discuss appropriate dose adjustments with your doctor. Your doctor may also prescribe a suitable alternative.

Drug interactions:

• Amitryptilline - Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, may cause side effects. If you experience any signs and symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, heart palpitation then inform the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

• Nortryptilline- Moderate

Inform your doctor about the use of either medicines. When these medicines are taken or used together, may cause side effects. If you experience any signs and symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, heart palpitation then inform the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments may be done, or suitable alternate medicine may be considered based on the condition.

Alcohol interactions:

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while receiving/taking this medicine as it may cause interactions and lead to serious adverse effects and may worsen the health condition.

1. This medicine is to be sprayed into the nasal cavity with the applicator provided 
2. To avoid possible spread of infection, the spray should only be used by one person.
3. It is recommended to not touch the nasal walls with the tip of the applicator while using the spray. 
4. Follow the instructions exactly as advised by your doctor. Keep the lid of the applicator closed when not in use.
5. Seek medical help immediately if you experience a burning sensation or itchiness of the nasal cavity, sneezing or cough while using this medicine. 

Missed dose instructions:

Take this medicine as soon as you remember. However if it is almost the for your next dose skip the dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Over dose Instructions:

Seek emergency treatment or contact your physician in case if you experience any unusual signs and symptoms during the treatment with this medicine.

Storage Instructions:

• Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children. 
• Store it at room temperature and away from light and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
